Associate Professor in Separation Engineering for Aqueous Systems (Munich)

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications
for the position of Associate Professor in » Separation Engineering
for Aqueous Systems « to begin as soon as possible. The position is
a tenured W3 position (Associate Professorship).

Scientificenvironment

The professorship will be assigned to the TUM Campus
Straubingfor Biotechnology and Sustainability with additional
affiliation to theDepartment of Mechanical Engineering or to the
TUM School of Life Sciences. TheStraubing Campus provides a dynamic
academic environment with a rapidly growingnumber of faculty,
students and staff, as well as laboratory and researchfacilities.
Our aim is to make the campus the leading European center in
thefield of Bioeconomy focusing on biomass utilization for chemical
and materialuse, on environmentally sound biotechnological and
chemical conversiontechnologies, related economic, social and
political aspects and frameworks.The research and teaching
activities benefit from the scientific environment ofthe TUM
departments, all of which have potential and promising
cross-referencesto the field of Bioeconomy.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of TUM professors include research,teaching
and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an
expertin the research area of Separation Engineering for Aqueous
Systems,particle technology, or downstream processing with
application in utilizationof biogenic resources and
biotechnology.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in theuniversity’s
bachelor and master programs, especially in the bachelor andmaster
programs in Technology of Biogenic Resources, in Chemical
Biotechnology,and in Biogenic Materials.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with outstandingscientific
experience and qualifications, as demonstrated by achievements
inresearch and teaching at the highest international level. A
university degreeand an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent
scientific qualification, aswell as pedagogical aptitude, are
prerequisites. Substantial research experienceabroad,
fullcommitment to do interdisciplinary research, and a proven
ability to gain andto lead cooperative research projects and to
attracting third-party funding (e.g.DFG, EU, AiF) are expected.
Experience in a relevant industrial environment wouldbe a plus.
